Former Celtic chief with 'great reputation' appointed new Hamilton Accies chairman

dailyrecord.co.uk

Hamilton Accies have appointed former Celtic general manager Jock Brown as their new chairman. The brother of late ex-Scotland manager Craig, Brown has been out of the game for over 25 years after leaving Glasgow's East End under a cloud back in 1998.

He had been part of the setup at Celtic Park during the Fergus McCann era when the Hoops, then managed by Wim Jansen, stopped Rangers from winning 10-in-a-row.

But conflicts behind the scenes with Jansen reporetdly led to the Dutchman leaving the club shortly after their success. That made former TV commentator Brown an unpopular figure with the Celtic support and he departed just over a year after being appointed.

However, 78-year-old Brown is now back in Scottish football as he replaces his namesake John who stepped down as chairman of the New Douglas Park club yesterday.
