Everton‘s Dominic Calvert-Lewin will be “desperate” to win back his place in the starting line-up, according to journalist Pete O’Rourke. The £60,000 per-week star made his first outing of the season in the defeat to Manchester United last weekend and O’Rourke now reckons the striker will be targeting a regular spot in Frank Lampard’s XI.

Calvert-Lewin scored some key goals towards the end of last season, notably the winner against Crystal Palace, which secured Everton's Premier League status back in May.

But his injury woes continued when he suffered a knee problem in training ahead of the new campaign, which kept him out of action for the first nine games.

However, the England international finally made his comeback in the game with the Red Devils, replacing Idrissa Gueye for the final 14 minutes.
