Claressa Shields consolidated her status as one of the best boxers in the world with a dominant performance against Savannah Marshall at the O2 Arena.
With all three judges deciding in Shields’s favour – 96-94, 97-93, 97-93 – the 27-year-old became the undisputed middleweight champion, claiming the WBA, IBF, WBO, WBC and Ring Magazine titles.
It was a historic night for women’s sport as Shields and Marshall became the first two female boxers to headline a major venue in the UK.
The fight certainly lived up to the billing, with the atmosphere at the O2 Arena electric. Both boxers ramped up the anticipation with brilliant ring walks, but it was Shields’s entrance that particularly caught the eye.
