Claressa Shields vs Savannah Marshall: GWOAT's ring walk was as epic as her win

Claressa Shields consolidated her status as one of the best boxers in the world with a dominant performance against Savannah Marshall at the O2 Arena.

With all three judges deciding in Shields’s favour – 96-94, 97-93, 97-93 – the 27-year-old became the undisputed middleweight champion, claiming the WBA, IBF, WBO, WBC and Ring Magazine titles.

It was a historic night for women’s sport as Shields and Marshall became the first two female boxers to headline a major venue in the UK.

The fight certainly lived up to the billing, with the atmosphere at the O2 Arena electric.

Both boxers ramped up the anticipation with brilliant ring walks, but it was Shields’s entrance that particularly caught the eye.

Marshall, the home favourite, was backed by the majority of the sell-out crowd at the O2 Arena.

But they were stunned into silence by Shields’s brilliant ring walk, which took place to the tune of The Champ is Here by Jadakiss.

The American casually walked onto the stage before breaking out into a choreographed routine with two backing dancers.

She then swaggered down towards the ring, looking immensely confident as she got closer to the biggest fight of her life.

Shields later confirmed that her outfit was inspired by Apollo Creed, the main antagonist in boxing films Rocky and Rocky II.
