Chelsea: Why were players wearing 'Get well soon, Emma' t-shirts?

Chelsea warmed up for their Premier League match against Aston Villa with t-shirts sporting the message, ‘Get well soon, Emma’.

The women’s team wore the same t-shirts as they prepared for their Women’s Super League encounter against Everton. For fans wondering what the t-shirts meant, it was in fact a touching tribute to Chelsea Women boss Emma Hayes.

Hayes revealed last week that she would be away from the sidelines for the foreseeable future. The 45-year-old announced she underwent an emergency hysterectomy as a result of her ongoing battle with endometriosis.

It was announced that Denise Reddy would be making on-field decisions for the women’s team, while Paul Green is carrying out all press obligations.
