Blackpool impressed against Rangers but a positive performance wasn't enough to avoid defeat against the Scottish Premiership runners-up.
The Seasiders started the game brightly, playing with confidence particularly when playing out from the back under pressure and started to show the hallmarks of what Michael Appleton wants.
Josh Bowler and Sonny Carey both went close in the first half as Blackpool consistently opened up the Rangers backline in behind with sharp interchange with the advanced midfielders.
Rangers themselves always looked a threat on the break but Blackpool defended stoutly going in level at the break. Bowler lost possession in a dangerous area and Borna Barisic took on the ball, cut inside and curled home a brilliant finish to give the visitors the lead.
