Blackpool player ratings vs Rangers as Keshi Anderson and Josh Bowler standout in confident showing

Blackpool impressed against Rangers but a positive performance wasn't enough to avoid defeat against the Scottish Premiership runners-up.

The Seasiders started the game brightly, playing with confidence particularly when playing out from the back under pressure and started to show the hallmarks of what Michael Appleton wants. Josh Bowler and Sonny Carey both went close in the first half as Blackpool consistently opened up the Rangers backline in behind with sharp interchange with the advanced midfielders.

Rangers themselves always looked a threat on the break but Blackpool defended stoutly going in level at the break. Bowler lost possession in a dangerous area and Borna Barisic took on the ball, cut inside and curled home a brilliant finish to give the visitors the lead. The Seasiders winger was impressive on the ball throughout but lost his runner from a Gers set piece allowing Charlie McCann to lash home a second.

A mass of changes disrupted the flow of the latter stages of the game but a smart interchange between Jerry Yates and Beryly Lubala fed the latter through on goal and he slotted home with ease.

When called into action, vividly a Ryan Kent dipping strike from the edge, Grimshaw was as imperious as ever, likewise his disruption from the back was key.

It wasn't going to be the easiest task for Connolly filling in at right back against Kent but he performed admirably.
