Aston Villa manager Steven Gerrard is approaching a ‘tipping point’ regarding his future at Villa Park as his side continues to struggle in the Premier League, according to Sky Sports reporter Dharmesh Sheth. Gerrard’s side currently sit in 16th place in the top-flight table with just one point separating them from the relegation zone.
According to The Telegraph, the Liverpool legend has entered a critical stage of his time in charge of Aston Villa as the club considers an ambitious change.
The report states that owners Nassef Sawiris and Wes Edens, alongside chief executive Christian Purslow, will look to tempt former Tottenham Hotspur and Paris Saint-Germain manager Mauricio Pochettino to the West Midlands if they decide to sack Gerrard.
It goes on to claim that, if they are rejected by the Argentinian, they would make checks on ex-Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel and Villarreal manager Unai Emery.
