Aston Villa: Gerrard nearing 'tipping point' amid injury crisis at Villa Park

Aston Villa manager Steven Gerrard is approaching a ‘tipping point’ regarding his future at Villa Park as his side continues to struggle in the Premier League, according to Sky Sports reporter Dharmesh Sheth.

Gerrard’s side currently sit in 16th place in the top-flight table with just one point separating them from the relegation zone.

According to The Telegraph, the Liverpool legend has entered a critical stage of his time in charge of Aston Villa as the club considers an ambitious change.

The report states that owners Nassef Sawiris and Wes Edens, alongside chief executive Christian Purslow, will look to tempt former Tottenham Hotspur and Paris Saint-Germain manager Mauricio Pochettino to the West Midlands if they decide to sack Gerrard.

It goes on to claim that, if they are rejected by the Argentinian, they would make checks on ex-Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel and Villarreal manager Unai Emery.

There were recently audible chants heard from Villa fans at games calling for the club to sack Gerrard, despite him having been in charge for less than a year.

Sheth believes the 42-year-old may well be approaching a tipping point in his managerial stint at Villa Park.

The Sky Sports reporter adds that injuries to key players have not made his life easy, but that results will ultimately decide his fate.

Sheth told GIVEMESPORT: “There's been a few injuries that Steven Gerrard has had as well. Diego Carlos was his big central defensive signing and, within a couple of games, a very, very serious injury. He's going to miss the majority of the season. [Boubacar] Kamara as well.
