During the summer tour of the US, Erik ten Hag gave the impression Anthony Martial was on the verge of returning to the pitch.

After suffering with a muscle tear, the Frenchman was back on the training ground and was building up his strength. Fast forward nearly two weeks later and Martial is still yet to feature in a team this pre-season.

Things don't look set to change on Sunday in the Republic of Ireland but, even if they do, the striker has not had nearly enough minutes to be considered an option for selection against Wolverhampton Wanderers on August 14.
