Celtic star Alistair Johnston missed out on Canada's goalless draw with Mexico amid fresh concerns over his fitness. The right-back was forced off during Canada's 2-1 friendly win over the USA last week - but following the game boss Jesse Marsch moved to reassure fans and Brendan Rodgers over the hamstring knock.
He said following the full-time whistle: “Alistair said he felt a little bit of tightness in his hamstring and he felt it was smarter to step out.
I am hopeful that he will be okay." However, the hope of the former Leeds United boss didn't help Johnston in the end - as he missed out on the final friendly fixture before the end of the international break.
Reports in Canada say the 25-year-old left the camp early to receive further assessment on the knock back at Celtic before the return of Scottish Premiership action for the Hoops on Saturday.
