Albion Rovers boss Sandy Clark has made his first new signing of the summer after the capture of former Hamilton Accies reserve goalkeeper Ross Connelly.

The 22-year-old worked under Clark and his assistant George Paterson during their stint at East Stirlingshire last season, before their switch to Rovers late in the campaign.

And he is now reunited with the duo at Cliftonhill ahead of the new Lowland League season. Connelly worked his way through the youth ranks at Accies and was part of their reserve side until 2020 when he made the move to Ochilview to join Shire, where he has made more than 100 appearances.

He was also part of Accies’ under-19s age group that went on an impressive UEFA Youth League run in 2018. Connelly told the Rovers website: “I know it will be a good set-up here. "It was a big attraction to work with these guys (Sandy and George) again. “I know the football will be positive and I am hoping for another positive season for myself and the club.” Rovers have also announced that 17-year-old Barry Duncan has extended his stay with the Coatbridge club, signing a new contract hot on the heels of defender Adam Fernie and midfielder/coach Michael Paton doing the same yesterday.
