Zwane says it is 'key' for Amakhosi 'to get a number nine' as season opener looms

Kaizer Chiefs coach Arthur Zwane says they are still looking to sign another striker but admits that suitable options are not forthcoming.

Amakhosi's strike force suffered a big blow at the end of the season as Leonardo Castro, Bernard Parker, and Samir Nurkovic left the Soweto giants.

In their striker department, Chiefs have only added Stellenbosch's Ashley Du Preez, and Zwane is concerned about the lack of depth.

"It's key for us to get a number nine, but unfortunately, it's difficult at the moment to get the type of striker we are looking for," said Zwane, as quoted by KickOff.

"Those we have identified are not on the market, with their teams unwilling to sell.

"We have been attending pre-season tournaments, and have been watching the CHAN Tournament), while watching all the games that took place in KZN.

"We also have been watching the qualifying games, the World Cup and the Africa Cup of Nations. So, it's difficult, those who we are interested in, like Musa Kamara, we are still finding it difficult to bring him over."

Amakhosi kick-start their 2022/23 campaign on Saturday against Royal AM in KwaZulu Natal.

Kick-off is at 17:30.
