Veteran goalie Khune has 'own personal trainer' but Bvuma, Petersen more fit says Zwane

Kaizer Chiefs coach Arthur Zwane says even though goalkeeper Itumeleng Khune is working hard in training, he isn't ready to start.

Bruce Bvuma started Amakhosi's first three league games of the season and conceded five goals. He was dropped after the 4-0 defeat to Sundowns.

Meanwhile, Brandon Petersen started against Richards Bay as Chiefs kept a clean sheet in a 1-0 victory.

Many Chiefs fans are clamouring for Khune to be selected, but Zwane has explained that he simply isn't as fit and ready as the other goalkeepers at the club.

"Itu has been doing well at training just like all the other keepers, but he obviously needed to be at a certain level for him to be ready to play," said Zwane, as quoted by Soccer Laduma.

"The other keepers are ahead of him in terms of fitness levels and state of readiness.

"He's been working very hard on and off the field. He's got his own personal trainer, which is something we encourage... it shows discipline and that he takes his career very, very seriously.

"We're creating competition within the squad. It doesn't matter what you've done in the past... What is very key is who can help the team now."

Amakhosi are up against Cape Town City on Tuesday.

Kick-off is at 19:30.
