'We butted heads!': Baxter reveals clashing with Motaung Jnr as he lifts lid on Chiefs exit

Former Kaizer Chiefs head coach Stuart Baxter has finally broken his silence following his sudden and controversial departure from the club in April.

The 2021/22 campaign was still underway as the two parties agreed to part ways despite having a contract that was due to expire in 2023.

But Baxter's second stint at the Naturena outfit was fuelled by hidden agendas, the Scotsman revealed

"After I had Covid around the mid-season break, I realised even before then that there were agendas within the club," Baxter told SABC Sport.

"Those agendas were going to be satisfied whether I liked it or not, there were going to be things going on in the background, possibly not what I thought was the correct decision, but it was going to be done."

The 69-year-old was previously in charge of Chiefs between 2012 and 2015.

During that first spell, the former Bafana Bafana mentor picked up four major titles, the last time Amakhosi celebrated any silverware.

On his return to the club, Baxter replaced Gavin Hunt, who Chiefs sacked following a dismal domestic campaign during the 2020/21 season. 

Baxter's departure meant Arthur Zwane and Dillion Sheppard would oversee first team duties for the remainder of the season while the club searched for Baxter's replacement.

But a month later, Zwane would ink a three-year deal that would see him fill the void left by Baxter with Sheppard as his lieutenant.
