Kaizer Chiefs coach hits back at Stuart Baxter's comments: 'He is actually exposing himself'

Kaizer Chiefs head coach Arthur Zwane has laid everything bare in response to his predecessor Stuart Baxter's recent comments on how his time at the club ended.

The Scot returned to Amakhosi for a surprising second stint in May 2021, replacing Gavin Hunt with Zwane and Dillion Sheppard acting as his assistants.

Baxter and Chiefs parted ways a month before hitting the 12-month mark of his three-year deal and the 69-year-old spoke candidly about his experience the second time around at Naturena.

Baxter said he felt backstabbed while also stating that he clashed with Amakhosi sporting director Kaizer Motaung Jnr.

Baxter 'exposing himself'

But Zwane has hit back, explaining where he feels everything went sour.

"I must say I was a little bit disappointed when I heard that, but to be quite honest, I don't care. I don't really care, simply, because we are here," Zwane told reporters.

"We are in the business of football, and I listened to him carefully to what was said on the radio.

"The problem started when he was sick. So, if I [had to] break it down how it all started, it's simple. He is actually exposing himself."

Zwane continued: "We trained for one day, and then we played against Sekhukhune (United). We won against Sekhukhune, and then other players, seniors were also recovering the next game.

"Then we went to Royal AM; we lost 1-0, that time when you have players who are much fitter than those who were sick. There was no way we could play players who were not ready to play 90 minutes.

"We had to manage some, but at some point, we were told, 'no, you had to play this one'. How can you tell people to play so-and-so who are not ready when you are also sitting at home sick?
