Woman seen walking along roof of Opera House theatre in Manchester

A woman was seen walking along the roof of Manchester's Opera House theatre in the city centre on Thursday afternoon (February 6).

Pictures taken at around 3.15pm showed the woman, who was dressed in joggers and a coat, walking along the roof of the theatre on Quay Street.

A witness who saw her from their office block said she had been on the roof with two other men who 'appeared to be filming her'. A free runner and parkour enthusiast has since claimed responsibility for the incident on social media.

"She was with two blokes, looked like they were filming her up on the roof. A bit like parkour," one person, who asked to remain anonymous said. "I was sat at the desk working and everyone on near me said 'who's that idiot on the roof?'"

Responding to the image after it was shared on a social media forum, one user said: "I feel dizzy just looking at this" as another joked: "It's hard to find the toilets in there tbf."

Parkour activity sees people move through urban environments using running, jumping, climbing and other acrobatic movements in order to overcome obstacles.

Greater Manchester Police and the Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service confirmed the incident had not been reported to them on Thursday afternoon and that their crews did not attend.

Manchester Opera House have been contacted for a response.
