'Men in black' seen fleeing scene after shots fired at Liverpool house with children inside
A man has been arrested after shots were fired at a house in broad daylight. People were inside the property, including, when someone opened fire, police say.
It happened in the Old Swan area of Liverpool at around 3.50pm on yesterday (Saturday, February 15). It was reported shots had been fired at a window. Thankfully, no one was injured but detectives say it 'could have had catastrophic consequences.'
Two men, who were 'dressed in all black clothing', were seen running away on foot, following the shooting on Acanthus Road, Merseyside Police said. They were said to be heading in the direction of Doric Road.
A 28-year-old man was arrested in connection to the incident. He has been taken into police custody to be questioned.
Last night, officers in white forensic suits were at the scene, and appeared to be focusing on a car parked in the middle of Acanthus Road and on the pavement outside the gate of a house, the Liverpool Echo reports. Detectives were seen knocking on doors making enquiries the whole length of the road.
At around 6.30pm, around a dozen matrix officers were seen going inside a house towards the end of Acanthus Road which leads on to Queens Drive. One officer could be seen carrying a suitcase inside the home.
Detective Chief Inspector Andy McCourt said: "The investigation is in its very early stages and officers are currently in the area to carry out CCTV and house-to-house inquiries. Thankfully no one was injured, but this firearms discharge could have had catastrophic consequences.
"There were people inside the house at the time of the incident, including children, so clearly this could have been much worse. I'm sure the local community will be just as appalled as we are and I want to reassure them that
