Woman and teenager arrested as cops swoop on house after 'drugs' from abroad intercepted
Officers raided a house in north Manchester after a suspected drugs package from abroad was intercepted by Border Force. Police were tipped off about the package, which had been due to arrive at a property on Dexter Road, in Blackley.
Greater Manchester Police swooped on the house this morning (July 28), where they seized a quantity of suspected cannabis and recovered a suspected offensive weapon. A 53-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of possession of an offensive weapon, possession of class B drugs, and unlawful importation of cannabis.
A man, aged 19, was also arrested on suspicion of possession of class B drugs and unlawful importation of cannabis. PC Thomas Wyatt, from GMP’s Manchester district, said: “We work closely with partner agencies to help with our ongoing community operations, and this was an excellent example of that.

"We are determined to crack down on reports of drugs in the area and we will continue to take action where needed. Manchester’s neighbourhood teams are always doing their best to keep the streets safe and crime-free, so do speak to one if you ever have any concerns or queries."
The warrant was executed as part of Operation Concept, which sees GMP working with Border Force to intercept illegal products before they reach the region's streets. Information can be shared with police by calling 101 or the independent charity Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
