Andre Onana 'convinced' about Manchester United after Old Trafford debut

Manchester United goalkeeper Andre Onana is convinced he and his new teammates will be able to bring glory back to Old Trafford.

Onana made his first start at the Theatre of Dreams on Saturday as the Reds beat Ligue 1 side Lens 3-1. The Cameroonian's afternoon got off to the worst possible start though as a loss of possession in defence led to Florian Sotoca lobbing the 'keeper from the halfway line.

United did manage to regroup in the second half and turned the scoreline on its head thanks to goals from Marcus Rashford, Antony and Casemiro. After the match, Onana told the media he was happy to take on criticism for his performance after Lens' goal but on X (formerly Twitter) the 27-year-old remained undeterred by the long-term target.

He wrote: "This stadium breathes football, history and glory. I am convinced that we will live great moments in the Theatre of Dreams.

"We’ll stick together in hard times and we’ll always move forward. Glory, glory Man United."

Manager Erik ten Hag brought some success back to Old Trafford last season when he led the club to the Carabao Cup.

However, the Reds' aims for the new campaign are to build on this success both domestically and in Europe. There is not long left before United can make a start on working towards their goals in the league.

The transfer window is in full swing and United have got their hands on three players well in advance of the September 1 deadline, with Rasmus Hojlund joining Mason Mount and Andre Onana at Old Trafford.
