Wolves make transfer decision as Barcelona send Riqui Puig message

Wolverhampton Wanderers have handed Hwang Hee-chan the number 11 shirt after deciding against making the loan of Francisco Trincao a permanent transfer.

South Korean forward Hwang officially joined Wolves yesterday from RB Leipzig following his loan spell at the club last season. Wolves exercised their option to sign Hwang permanently during the January transfer window.

The 26-year-old donned the number 26 in his first season with Wolves, but the club have confirmed that Hwang will wear number 11 next season. He wears the number 11 for South Korea too.

Trincao wore the shirt number for Wolves during his loan spell from Barcelona last season. The Portuguese winger showed glimpses of his talent, but he struggled to make an impact across the course of the season and found himself out of favour under Bruno Lage by the end of it.

Wolves had the option to sign Trincao permanently for around £25million, but it seems as though the player will move elsewhere next season. Trincao reportedly wants to be reunited with former Braga boss Ruben Amorim at Sporting.

Fabio Silva has also been handed a new shirt number, moving from 17 to 21. Departing goalkeeper John Ruddy wore number 21 for Wolves last season.

Barcelona have reportedly excused Riqui Puig from the first week of pre-season training so that he can find a new club.

Puig, who has been linked with a move to Wolverhampton Wanderers, has been made available for transfer by Barcelona after being excluded from head coach Xavi's plans for 2022/23. Puig only made 15 appearances in La Liga last season, scoring one goal.
