"Made their offer" - Journalist says "signs are good" for Wolves in bid to land major target

Wolverhampton Wanderers have ‘made their offer’ for Sporting CP attacking midfielder Matheus Nunes, according to journalist Dean Jones.

The 23-year-old is believed to be one of the hottest properties on the transfer market at this moment in time and could be set for a switch to Molineux for next season.

Back in April, The Athletic’s David Ornstein revealed that Wolves were lining up moves for Nunes and Sporting teammate Joao Palhinha as they planned for life without Ruben Neves and Joao Moutinho.

And Jacque Talbot of FootballTransfers has provided an update on the Midlands outfit’s pursuit of the Portuguese pair.

Talbot claims that Manchester City, Paris Saint-Germain, Manchester United, Everton and Newcastle United have all joined Wolves in the hunt for Nunes’ signature.

Meanwhile, newly-promoted Fulham appear to have stolen the march on Bruno Lage’s charges when it comes to Palhinha.

Nunes, though, is said to have a €60 million (£51.5m) release clause inserted into his contract, although Sporting will accept offers of around €45m (£38.7m) for his services.

Jones has disclosed that Wolves have already made their move for Nunes, but the decision over his future is up to the player, and he may be put off by Palhinha’s ongoing transfer saga.

He told GiveMeSport: “They’ve made their offer for Nunes, and the signs are good. Ultimately, this comes down to tying down the player and does he actually want this move? That’s the big question that seems to be hanging over this one.
