Wolves: Lage has 'had good look' at 136-goal striker at Molineux

Wolverhampton Wanderers have ‘had a good look’ at Chelsea striker Michy Batshuayi and may look to lure him to Molineux, according to transfer insider Dean Jones.

Head coach Bruno Lage bolstered his attacking options by completing the £27.5million signing of Goncalo Guedes earlier this week, but he could still aim to bring in another frontman before the September 1 deadline.

According to the Daily Mail, Wolves have enquired about taking Batshuayi on loan from Premier League rivals Chelsea.

The report suggests the West Midlands outfit are interested in securing the 45-cap Belgium international’s services on a temporary basis having also enjoyed spells with Borussia Dortmund, Valencia, Crystal Palace and Besiktas during his time at Stamford Bridge.

However, it appears Lage – who is into his second season at the helm after being appointed as Wolves’ head coach in June 2021 – is facing competition for Batshuayi’s signature.

That is because Belgian newspaper Het Laatste Nieuws, via Sport Witness, have revealed that Everton are also in the picture to sign the 28-year-old.

With Raul Jimenez out of action for a ‘number of weeks’ after injuring his knee and groin in a pre-season friendly, landing a new frontman has become a priority for Lage.

Jones has hailed the acquisition of Guedes, but he feels Wolves need to turn their attentions towards drafting in another striker.

The transfer insider understands the Molineux-based outfit have been watching Batshuayi closely during the summer.

Jones told GIVEMESPORT: “Guedes is a really good signing. He can be a bit flaky, but his quality is undoubted.

“Now they need a striker to go alongside him to finish off the chances that he will be teeing up.

“They’ve had a good look at Batshuayi
