Man Utd: 'Deal needs to be done quickly' for £15m star at Old Trafford

Manchester United have been boosted in their attempts to lure Adrien Rabiot to Old Trafford as Juventus ‘need the deal done quickly’, according to transfer insider Dean Jones.

The Red Devils have made a nightmare start to the new season, with an opening day defeat to Brighton & Hove Albion being followed up with a 4-0 hammering at the hands of Brentford on Saturday.

Manchester United appear to have moved a step closer to getting a deal over the line as it is understood that director John Murtough held a positive meeting with Rabiot’s agent and mother Veronique after travelling to Turin before the weekend.

Although a salary is still being negotiated behind closed doors, The Guardian have revealed that an initial £15million fee has been agreed between the Red Devils and Juventus.

The Italian giants are open to sanctioning the central midfielder’s departure ahead of the September 1 transfer deadline as he has entered the final 12 months of his £175,000-per-week contract.

Juventus have prioritised signing Paris Saint-Germain star Leandro Paredes and have already come to an agreement over personal terms, but the Argentinian will reportedly only complete the switch after Rabiot leaves the Allianz Stadium.

Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag opted to make a move for Rabiot after it became clear that Barcelona’s Frenkie de Jong is not interested in heading to Old Trafford.

Jones believes that Juventus are desperate to offload Rabiot, boosting Manchester United’s hopes of getting the deal over the line.

The transfer insider understands that the Frenchman is no longer in Juventus boss Massimiliano Allegri’s plans.
