Wolves: Bruno Lage should tempt £38.7m duo to Molineux

Wolverhampton Wanderers should challenge their rivals for the signatures of Noni Madueke and Cody Gakpo this summer, according to journalist Josh Holland.

The highly-rated PSV Eindhoven pair have been linked with moves away from the Dutch giants following a string of impressive performances and could find themselves in the Premier League next term.

According to talkSPORT, Aston Villa manager Seven Gerrard and his assistant Gary McAllister were spotted scouting Madueke in PSV’s recent UEFA Conference League clash against Leicester City.

The report also states the Foxes are keen on the England Under-21 international, though, who departed Tottenham Hotspur’s academy back in 2018 in search of a faster route to first-team football.

Since then, Madueke, who is valued at £16.2m by Transfermarkt, has registered 18 goals and 13 assists in 68 appearances for PSV across all competitions, claiming the Dutch Cup along the way.

Meanwhile, his teammate Gakpo has enjoyed a stellar season for his boyhood club, becoming their main attacking threat despite being just 22 years old.

In 44 outings throughout the current campaign, the Netherlands international found the back of the net on 19 occasions, setting up a further 15 strikes for Roger Schmidt’s charges.

A recent report in GOAL claimed Premier League giants Arsenal, Manchester United and Liverpool have an interest in Gakpo as the race for his signature begins to hot up.

Signing Gakpo, who is valued at £22.5m, may be difficult, but Holland believes Wolves should use their lofty position in the top-flight standings to try and lure Madueke to Molineux ahead of Leicester and Villa.
