Wolves: 52 y/o manager now 'back in consideration' at Molineux
Wolverhampton Wanderers are reconsidering Pedro Martins are their next manager once again, according to journalist Dean Jones.
The Midlands outfit are still searching for a new boss after deciding to sack Bruno Lage following a run of just one victory in 15 Premier League games under his tutelage.
Wolves suffered their first blow in their attempts to appoint a new leader after Julen Lopetegui turned down their advances citing family reasons as the deciding factor behind his decision.
Lopetegui had himself been relieved of his duties by Sevilla only last week and quickly emerged as the club’s preferred choice to take over from the departed Lage.
However, the Wolves hierarchy will now be forced to reassess their options, and Martins is someone who was originally believed to be on their radar.
The Express & Star claimed Wolves were ‘considering a move’ for the ex-Olympiacos tactician at the start of the month, although he is unlikely to be the only candidate for the role.
A report from The Telegraph claims that Lopetegui and Bo Svensson of Mainz were ahead of Martins in the club’s initial shortlist, and the latter may well be approached this time around.
Martins lately rejected the opportunity to become Hull City’s new manager, and Jones believes that he is now ‘back in consideration’ for the Wolves job.

In an interview with GiveMeSport, he said: “Wolves have gone back to the drawing board, and I’ve got a feeling Pedro Martins really is someone that is back in consideration now.
“There are other names too being pushed in their consideration, but they’ll want someone who they have a clear understanding of.”
