Why Aaron Wan-Bissaka is absent from Manchester United squad vs Luton Town

Erik ten Hag has confirmed Aaron Wan-Bissaka is absent from Manchester United's squad against Luton Town due to illness.

Wan-Bissaka returned from a hamstring injury in the defeat 3-0 against Newcastle in the Carabao Cup at the beginning of this month and he made his first start since recovering from that issue against Fulham on November 4.

The right-back started against Copenhagen in midweek but he's absent from the squad to face Luton on Saturday afternoon.

Diogo Dalot is set to start in his absence and Sergio Reguilon has been given the nod to play at left-back, with Harry Maguire and Victor Lindelof having been selected to start in the centre of the defence.

Wan-Bissaka and Jonny Evans coming out of the team are the only changes and Ten Hag told MUTV: "Aaron is ill, so we had to change, but it is what it is and we have to do it often, but they know the principles and rules.

"We worked on the cooperation, that is clear and they have to bring it on the pitch."

Ten Hag was asked about getting drawn into a battle with Luton and added: "Don't get into the fight, but if you do, you have to win the battles, you need good organisation to cover each other on the pitch and defend with all, but to avoid that, bring quality on the ball. Move the ball, move the opponent and create chances.

"We need to win this game and every game we know that, so the approach won't change. We need the three points."
