Ole Gunnar Solskjaer praises two Manchester United unsung heroes

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has heaped praise on Harry Maguire for his recent resurgence and believes it has only reiterated why he named him Manchester United captain.

Maguire was Solskjaer's most expensive signing during his spell in charge of the club and he was controversially named club captain just months after he arrived from Leicester.

The England international enjoyed a good first season at Old Trafford but wilted under the pressure of wearing the armband and gradually fell down the pecking order.

It looked like Maguire's time was up when he was stripped of the captaincy and made available for transfer in the summer, but he remained at the club and has subsequently worked his way back into the starting line-up.

The 30-year-old is now arguably United's first-choice centre-back again and Solskjaer has praised Maguire for the attitude he has shown throughout his time at the club.

"I think he has dealt with it in a fantastic way," he told Nettavisen. "It has not been easy. I have kept in touch with him and I have nothing but praise for the guy.

"He has been in it. It's not easy to leave Manchester United because you know there's a downturn almost everywhere you go. You get paid for your efforts when you are that type, when you are a good footballer and show that you have a heart for the club,

"I guess he has gradually learned who to listen to. I am very happy that Harry in particular shows what kind of player he is, but not least what kind of type and person he is. That's why I made him captain. We in Norway call it 'hell wood'."
