Who is Ethan Williams? Manchester United youngster involved in training ahead of Bayern Munich

Erik ten Hag continued to integrate young talent into first-team training at Manchester United with Ethan Williams involved ahead of Wednesday's Champions League clash at Bayern Munich.

United hosted an open training session at Carrington on Tuesday morning before flying to Bavaria. Many eyes were on the returning pair of Mason Mount and Raphael Varane, but eagle-eyed viewers also saw Williams included.

This isn't the forward's first call-up to first-team training but with Antony and Jadon Sancho both absent, it is a significant chance for the youngster to make a positive impression. The Manchester Evening News has taken a closer look below at his career so far.

Who is Ethan Williams?

Williams was born in 2005 and began his football career at Rochdale. Having worked through the ranks, he joined United at Under-14 level in 2019.

He continued his development at Carrington, initially as a versatile option along the left-hand side but later finding his role on the left-wing. Brilliant performances at Under-18 level earned him a recent call-up to the Under-21s.

How is Williams doing this season?

Still only 17, Williams earned himself a place in United's Under-21 side this season after an excellent campaign with the Under-18s. The forward registered seven goals and eight assists in 23 Under-18 Premier League games last season and was the standout player at that level.
