Whitburn remain perfect while West Lothian sides enjoy East of Scotland top spots

Whitburn now stand alone as the sole West Lothian side with a perfect league record as they made it five from five in the East of Scotland First Division.

But, while the Burnie might be the only team standing with a 100 per cent record, our teams occupy top or joint-top position in all four East of Scotland league following the weekend’s action.

Despite falling behind at Central Park, Whitburn ran out 4-2 winners over Preston Athletic. Ross Crawford levelled things up before Louis Maguire netted the first of his two goals before the break to ensure the hosts went into the second half with a lead. Darren Liddell extended that advantage before Maguire effectively wrapped the game up with his second with a late consolation mattering little.

In the EoS Premier Divsion, Broxburn Athletic lost their perfect record but remain unbeaten thanks to an injury-time leveller from Gary Brass as they drew 1-1 at Sauchie. After this weekend’s Scottish Cup action, it’s an early season thriller at Albyn Park on Tuesday night as Athletic host fellow joint-leaders Jeanfied Swifts.

Armadale Thistle occupy top spot in the Second Division after knocking Easthouses Lily for six with Robbie Feeney the star of the show as he bagged himself a hat-trick. Tomas Murphy opened the Dale’s account before a brace from Feeney was added to by Josh Gillespie.

Feeney made it three for the day and five on the season when he was found unmarked at the back post to complete his hat-trick while Jayden Fairley wrapped things up with a fizzing strike from the edge of the box.

Like Broxburn in the top tier, Bathgate Thistle lost their 100 per cent record at the weekend as they fell to a disappointing 2-1 home loss to Hawick Royal Albert in Division Three - however
