When is the Carabao Cup 3rd round draw? Manchester United and Man City ball numbers, live stream and potential opponents

Manchester United and Manchester City's journeys in the domestic cup competitions will begin this week when the draw for the Carabao Cup third round is made.

United enjoyed a brilliant campaign last season, winning the League Cup at Wembley Stadium after a 2-0 victory over Newcastle. The triumph was the sixth time the Reds have won the competition but was also the first trophy of the Erik ten Hag era.

Meanwhile, City missed out on a quadruple after losing to Southampton in the quarter-final stages. Pep Guardiola will be hopeful of adding the League Cup to his cabinet along with the Treble he won last season.

Ahead of the draw, MEN Sport has taken a look at all you need to know about the Carabao Cup third round.

The draw will take place on Wednesday, August 30 at the culmination of the second-round tie between Doncaster Rovers and Everton. It is expected to take place at around 10:15pm.

Thanks to qualifying for the Champions League, both United and City earned a bye to the third round of the competition. All teams who qualify for European football are moved to the third round automatically meaning Arsenal, Newcastle, Brighton and Hove Albion, Liverpool, West Ham, and Aston Villa will all enter the draw this week.

Unlike the Champions League draw, the Carabao Cup is not seeded so United and City could face each other or another Premier League team. The competition has been regionalised up to this stage but all teams will be in one pot for the third round.
