Manchester United 'told' Marc Cucurella loan fee by Chelsea and more transfer rumours
Manchester United have been told it will cost them £7million to take Marc Cucurella on loan from Chelsea, according to reports.
United have been forced to enter the market for a new left-back in the final week of the transfer window, having lost Luke Shaw to a muscular injury. An initial announcement stated the 28-year-old will miss 'a number of weeks' but there are fears it could be closer to two months.
Manager Erik ten Hag had identified a number of short-term options, including the likes of Sergio Reguilon and Marcos Alonso of Tottenham and Barcelona respectively. However, Cucurella has always been touted as the preferred target and The Athletic report that an opening offer has been made.
Chelsea are said to be open to a loan but they would want a payment of £7 million to let the Spaniard move to Old Trafford for the season. The former Brighton player is yet to feature this season, with Blues manager Mauricio Pochettino preferring 21-year-old Ian Maatsen as cover for Ben Chilwell.

Elsewhere, Sky Sports reports that United have made an approach to sign Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg from Tottenham.
Danish international Hojbjerg is free to leave Spurs this summer after falling out of favour with new manager Ange Postecoglou. He had previously been a regular feature under Antonio Conte and Jose Mourinho.
The transfer window is in full swing and United have got their hands on three players well in advance of the September 1 deadline, with Rasmus Hojlund joining Mason Mount and Andre Onana at Old Trafford.
