What Harry Amass has said about Man United wait speaks volumes for Erik ten Hag in injury crisis
In the midst of the club's worst ever start to a Premier League season is probably not an ideal point for a 17-year-old to make his senior debut. Harry Amass wouldn't have an issue with it, though.
After failing to even make the Manchester United bench once, during a catastrophic opening two months to the 2024/25 campaign, any progress would be positive. Because, despite being taken on the summer tour of America, Amass has hardly had a look-in.
If the conditions had been better for Erik ten Hag - be that with more points on the board or fewer injuries - then maybe complaints wouldn't be so loud. But with Tyrell Malacia out, Luke Shaw only just getting close to his return, and Noussair Mazraoui sidelined following a minor procedure, there's one orthodox full-back left, and that's for the opposite flank.

Lisandro Martinez can deputise, and he has, at left-back. He's part of a first-choice central pairing when fit, though, and Diogo Dalot is better on the right in his natural role. Although he has been used on the left, over recent weeks, Mazraoui's absence complicates matters.
Given that the current options available ahead of the visit of Brentford on Saturday look to mean either moving Martinez from centre-back or placing Jonny Evans out wide, the ability to select a 17-year-old treble-winner from last season is appealing. Ten Hag has, so far, opted against selecting him, though.
