West Ham United transfer news: Gianluca Scamacca a transfer target for David Moyes on one condition

West Ham have turned their attention to Sassuolo striker Gianluca Scamacca as David Moyes looks to bolster his attack in the summer transfer window.

Moyes is in the hunt to sign a new striker after failing to sign one in January. A host of names have been linked with the Hammers and Scamacca is the latest. The Sun report that West Ham are keen on the £25million-rated attacker.

The 23-year-old has been a revelation for Sassuolo this season. Indeed his 16 goals in 35 appearances have helped his club reach midtable in Serie A. He is also sitting in sixth in the topscorer standings.

Napoli striker Victor Osimhen who has been linked with a £90million move is below him. It is no surprise then that clubs are keeping a close eye on Scamacca.

Competition will be fierce. Both Inter and AC Milan are keen to keep him in Italy. However if he fancies a switch to England, Newcastle and Arsenal have also been linked.

The Sun claim West Ham are also keen but will not get involved in a bidding war. The price is said to be £25million as things stand. But that could go up if the interest hots up.

If that does happen then the report says West Ham will switch targets to another Italian. Torino captain Andrea Belotti is also said to be a target.

Belotti has more experience and has notched over 100 Serie A goals in 232 appearances. He has been less prolific than Scamacca this season though. The 28-year-old has eight Serie A goals.

The beauty of Belotti is the fact he is available on a free transfer. There would be a price with signing-on fees and wages but it would still be a cheaper option. And arguably less of a gamble.
