Becir Omeragic moves onto West Ham radar but Serie A clubs have eyes on versatile defender

West Ham United are said to have joined the race to sign young FC Zurich defender Becir Omeragic in the summer transfer window.

The Hammers enjoyed another solid season, finishing seventh in the Premier League. They qualified for Europe but face a play-off round to make it into the group stage of the Europa Conference League. But it was a tough end to the campaign for the East End outfit, with just one win from their final seven league games.

A Europa League campaign that ended in the semi-finals seemed to take its toll on David Moyes’ squad. And the Scot has been tipped to freshen up his defensive ranks this summer.

Rennes stopper Nayef Aguerd has been linked but his arrival is far from certain. And it is highly likely that the London Stadium outfit will have eyes on other possibilities.

Omeragic is thought to be one. The 20-year-old has been earning rave reviews for his displays in the Swiss Super League.

And Italian giants Milan were linked during the January transfer window. However, it is another Serie A club that are now thought to be keen, with Torino credited with an interest.

But, according to TuttoMercatoWeb, West Ham are also in the picture. And the report states that there are ‘open dialogues with other teams in the top flight’ in Italy and with West Ham.

It remains to be seen if he is allowed to leave, with a price of €20m being touted for the starlet.

West Ham appeared to run out of steam in April as disappointing results against Brentford and Burnley hindered their progress.
