We simulated Southampton vs Manchester United to get a score prediction

After picking up their first win of the season, Manchester United will be looking to carry their momentum into their clash with Southampton on Saturday.

A poor start to the season saw United sitting bottom of the league after two games, but Erik ten Hag's side looked rejuvenated in Monday night's 2-1 victory over rivals Liverpool. Jadon Sancho and Marcus Rashford were the goalscorers in the win at Old Trafford, whilst a brilliant defensive display from new singings Tyrell Malacia and Lisandro Martinez received much praise following the victory.

Now, United need to keep up this tempo and play the same when they face Southampton in the Premier League on Saturday afternoon. The Saints have earned four points from a possible nine so far this season, currently sitting above United in the league table.

Despite returning from injury to return against Liverpool, Ten Hag has confirmed that Anthony Martial is out with an Achilles injury. Facundo Pellistri is guaranteed to miss the game, whilst Casemiro will be involved after being granted a work permit.

So, what will the score be when United face the Saints? We used FIFA 22 to get a score prediction...

To complete this simulation, we used FIFA 22 and updated the squads with the latest transfers. Due to FIFA 22 not having the latest kits, both sides lined up in the kits from the 2021/22 season, whilst kit numbers for new transfers may also be incorrect.

We predict that the Saints could set up in a 4-2-3-1 formation, with their line-up as follows: Bazunu; Walker-Peters, Bella-Kotchap, Salisu, Djenepo; Ward-Prowse, Lavia; Armstrong, Aribo, Elyounoussi; Adams.
