Virals: Celtic star sends message that will please Hoops fans

Celtic defender Carl Starfelt took to Instagram to send a message to supporters after he picked up an injury whilst playing for Sweden.

The centre-back was stretchered off in the recent game against Slovenia, and is going to miss the rest of Sweden’s games this summer.

There has been concern over the severity of his injury, but Starfelt took to Instagram to give an update on the situation, which should ease the concern of supporters to an extent.

“Happy to have made my competition debut for Sweden. Unfortunately it ended with an injury keeping me away from upcoming internationals. Time to recover, see you next season”

With the Scottish Premiership season starting at the end of July, the Hoops will hope that Starfelt isn’t out of action for long, and will be fit for the start of the 2022/23 campaign.

Starfelt was a mainstay of the Celtic side which won the Premiership title in season 2021/22. making 49 appearances and forming a solid defensive partnership with Cameron Carter-Vickers.

READ CELTIC VERDICT:

Celtic fans will be relieved to learn that the player doesn’t seem to think that the injury is that severe, as his ‘see you next season’ comment indicates. You have to think that if it was going to be a long-term absence, Starlfet wouldn’t sound so upbeat about his situation.

The player has been colossal for the Hoops in his short time at Celtic Park, and the last thing that Celtic needs is for the defender to be out of action for a while.

It is unfortunate for Starfelt that his first start for Sweden ended in injury, but if he plays as well for Celtic next season as he did last season, then he is sure to start more games for his country.
