Vincent Kompany gives verdict on Manchester United's poor results ahead of Burnley clash

Vincent Kompany warned that 'big clubs are always a defeat away from a crisis' when asked about Manchester United's poor results and he said there's absolutely no doubt that Erik ten Hag is an 'extremely capable manager'.

United have suffered four defeats from six games in all competitions this season and they have conceded the most goals (14) from Premier League clubs in that period, which highlights the challenge Ten Hag is currently facing.

Ten Hag is also contending with a lengthy injury list at Old Trafford, while Antony and Jadon Sancho are unavailable. United were defeated 4-3 against Bayern Munich in the Champions League in midweek and they return to Premier League action with a game against relegation candidates Burnley at Turf Moor on Saturday night.

Kompany, who spent 11 years at Manchester City as a player, has made an excellent start to his managerial career having guided the Clarets to promotion from the Championship last term, and he was asked for his verdict on United at his pre-match press conference on Thursday.

"I have been at a big club when you lose a couple and the pressure can mount. Our focus is on the pitch," Kompany said. "We've had three games against three of the top eight sides in this league. I'm really looking forward to this game in terms of seeing if we've made those steps forward and I really believe in the attacking threat we have.

"We're not busy with what's happening with the other team. It doesn't concern us. I have to manage our team and our performances. We're a calm camp, a place where there's something exciting ahead of us and we want to build on that momentum.
