Victor Lindelof explains how Manchester United squad reacted to Jadon Sancho statement

Victor Lindelof insists the Manchester United squad remain ‘calm’ about the public disagreement between boss Erik ten Hag and teammate Jadon Sancho over training levels.

The Sweden captain, speaking ahead of his country’s Euro 2024 qualifier with Estonia, described the dressing room as tight, claiming there is still positive feeling around the club even given the poor start to the season.

Sancho took to social media to issue a statement defending his training levels and said he's been treated as a ‘scapegoat’ just hours after Ten Hag revealed why the player was omitted from the squad that lost 3-1 to Arsenal last Sunday.

The Manchester Evening News understands that Ten Hag stands by his comments. Lindelof has now unpacked his thoughts about the situation and was keen to underline it has not caused friction within the squad.

“I think... In a club like United there is always very, very much written about and always will be. Regardless of what happens, they try to make it as big as possible and it makes headlines,” he said, as per Sport Bladet. “But for us players, it's calm.

“Of course, we've gone out and played four games and got two slightly worse results, but otherwise we don't think too much about it. We are a tight group with a good feeling. That's how it is when you play at the highest level. There will always be people who want to like and write and things like that. But for my own part, it has been calm.”
