Valuation, bids and anger in the camp - Coventry City transfer state of play as Burnley continue interest in Callum O'Hare

Callum O’Hare continues to be the centre of transfer speculation linking the Coventry City star with a move to fallen Premier League side Burnley.

The Clarets manager Vincent Kompany angered the Sky Blues hierarchy and Mark Robins at the weekend when he admitted publicly his admiration for the attacking midfielder and fans’ favourite, saying: “I’m all for transparency. I would rather not lie but these things are hard until they are done, they can still go wrong. We think he is a great player, and we think he would be great for us but is a deal done, no.”

Robins responded by saying the Manchester City legend was “totally out of order,” and adding: “I think we do those things behind closed doors, but I’ve seen those comments and I’m not happy with them.

“But it is what it is. I think everybody knows that [Callum] has been subject of interest, speaking from the last 12 months or so. Burnley have been there all summer really and haven’t gone away, so we’ll see what the next few weeks brings.

“Me personally, I don’t want to lose him, so we see how we go. I want Callum as part of this team, there’s no doubt about that, but if I get that wish or not remains to be seen, then we take it from there, but for now he is our player and I’m delighted that he is.”

As things stood this morning, O’Hare was still very much a Coventry City player and the club posted a picture of the 24-year-old on the club’s Twitter feed to prove that he was at training at Ryton today.

No, although the Clarets are understood to have come back with renewed bids for O’Hare, CoventryLive understands that they have not yet met City’s valuation to trigger a conversation.
