Callum O’Hare, Jack Hendry, Bart Verbruggen, Dwight McNeil and the Burnley transfer state of play

Burnley’s new Championship season is only eight days away but with a the transfer window running until the end of August, there remains plenty of time for summer business at Turf Moor.

The Clarets have been active in the market as Vincent Kompany undertakes a rebuild. Seven new faces have arrived while a host of senior players have departed. More ins and outs are inevitable before the end of next month with the Turf chief determined to bolster his ranks.

Burnley are seeking goalkeeping additions while they are also want added centre forward options and potentially further arrivals in defence.

The Clarets are keen to add Coventry City midfielder Callum O’Hare to their ranks and have been given encouragement that there is a deal to be done despite the Sky Blues digging in over an asking price believed to be £9-10million. Burnley have had bids knocked back but remain interested with Kompany openly admitting he’s a fan of the 24-year-old.

The Clarets are also confident of finalising a deal for Anderlecht goalkeeper Bart Verbruggen with the 19-year-old having worked under the coaching staff before and caught their eye as a top prospect. That could see the departure of Bailey Peacock-Farrell, who is understood to want regular football, which in turn would lead to Burnley looking for another experienced option.

In defence Jack Hendry has been heavily linked with the Clarets in recent days and Club Brugge seem willing to sanction a sale for the Scotland international despite only signing him a year ago. He was a target of Sean Dyche’s last summer and will be well known to Kompany having played the last two years in Belgium.
