Vaclav Cerny seals Rangers transfer as Wolfsburg loanee delivers first words

Wolfsburg winger Vaclav Cerny has sealed a season-long loan switch to Rangers.

The Czech international signed for Wolfsburg from Twente for around £6m a year ago but will spend the season in the Scottish Premiership as he looks to kickstart his career under Philippe Clement. News emerged of interest from Ibrox this week - with the 26-year-old starting to follow the Light Blues on social media - and now he has been confirmed as a Rangers player for the new campaign.

He becomes the seventh new face to come in the door so far this season - and will add experience to the squad with Clement and director of football recruitment Nils Koppen focussing on adding prospects so far this season. Jefte, Oscar Cortes, Clinton Nsiala, Connor Barron, Hamza Igamane are all deals for the future with Liam Kelly also in the door.

Cerny told the club website: "It is a very nice day for me. I am happy to be here and I can’t wait to get started. Obviously from the first talks with the manager, it gave me a very good feeling and from there on I would say it went pretty fast. I was happy about the contact and just couldn’t wait to come down here and be here and experience it all.”
