LIVE: Latest updates from court as Kennie Carter’s killers due to be sentenced

Four teenagers are due to be sentenced today over the killing of Kennie Carter. Boy A, who admitted stabbing 16-year-old Kennie in Old Trafford, was found guilty of murder.

Three others, Latif Ferguson, 18, of School Walk, Old Trafford, Boy G, 16, and Boy H, also 16, were found not guilty of murder but guilty of manslaughter. Six other teenagers had gone on trial accused of murder and manslaughter and were acquitted of both charges.

Kennie was stabbed to death on January 22, 2022. Prosecutors said it was part of a tit-for-tat feud and committed in revenge following an incident the day before.

In the minutes after the murder, Boy A was seen on CCTV ‘re-enacting’ the killing, demonstrating how he’d stabbed Kennie. The convictions followed a long campaign by his parents, Glen and Joan, for justice to be done for their son.

Sentencing is due to take place at Manchester Crown Court, with the case listed to start at noon.
