Unseen Ange footage as Celtic boss gives Greek interview that reveals boyhood dream and his love for Hoops

Ange Postecoglou has opened up on his boyhood dream to make it at Liverpool and how listening to ‘You’ll Never Walk Alone’ in the Parkhead tunnel before his Celtic dugout debut transported him back in time.

It comes in previously unseen footage that surfaced on social media during an interview the Hoops gaffer gave to a Greek TV station at Celtic’s Lennoxtown training ground. Postecoglou spoke openly about his admiration for the Reds but also admitted his love for Celtic due in part to his Scottish team-mates at South Melbourne where he started out.

Postecoglou is preparing Celtic for Saturday’s Scottish Cup Final against Inverness Caledonian Thistle which could see him complete a domestic clean sweep and make it five trophies out of six in his two years in the east end of Glasgow. His success has seen Tottenham Hotspur make him their No. 1 target, with the Hoops braced for an approach from the English Premier League giants after the weekend showpiece against the Highlanders.

And the fascinating footage of his hopes and dreams as a kid Down Under has emerged at the same time. It’s unclear when it was recorded but Postecoglou says: “I mean, all of us, when we are little, we dream about stuff. My dream was that one day I’d be at Liverpool. Now how could a boy from Melbourne make it to Liverpool?

“You’ll Never Walk Alone has always been in my heart. When the opportunity presented itself and I took over Celtic, this was the defining moment of my first game. Moments before my debut, we were at the stadium, and I just stood in the tunnel listening to ‘You’ll Never Walk Alone’. Life can surprise you. You never know where you may end up. I dreamt of it at the age of six and it came true, eventually.” One of the two reporters
