'Unfortunately' - Wolves ace issues big update on social media

Having just returned from a hamstring problem that kept him out for the whole of March, the Portuguese international suffered another setback in just his second start back in the 3-0 defeat at home to Brighton.

The £22.5m-rated defender has made 25 Premier League appearances for Wolves this season but was forced off after 53 minutes in his latest outing with a recurring hamstring problem.

He took to Instagram on 4 May [Wednesday] to announce his season is over as a result and he will be focusing his efforts on being fit for the new campaign.

He posted: “Unfortunately I won’t be able to play this season anymore, I just have to support the team in the games that remain and focus on recovery. see you next season.”

This latest update will be a blow to the midlands club who are aiming to bounce back after two successive league defeats that has left them eighth in the table.

Captain Conor Coady has insisted that the team will not let their season ‘fizzle out’ and it is likely that Jonny Castro Otto, who deputised for the 28-year-old through March, will switch sides to the right in Semedo’s abscence.

Manager Bruno Lage appeared to have revitalised the side at the start of the season but there has been a drop in quality with six defeats in their last nine league games which has undone some of their early-season form.
