Unambitious Celtic board are Rangers best friend as Hotline warns Hoops would be BURIED in role reversal

Celtic will unfurl the Premiership flag on Sunday but fans are worried it will be a white one they need for the Champions League if their side don’t make some signings.

Hoops Hotline punters are getting a little tetchy at the lack of outfield recruitment and are worried about Europe as well as letting Rangers off the hook. Paul Price, Belfast, said: “The best friend that Rangers have is the unambitious Celtic board who clearly lack vision. If the shoe was on the other foot and Rangers had all the money they would bury us. I’m fed up hearing about all this work being done in the background, I don't blame Rodgers at all. Yes we played well in America, but it will be a different story in the Champions League. I hope I'm wrong.”

Stephen Mulhern, Dumbarton, said: “Like the majority of Celtic fans, we are becoming increasingly frustrated by the Adam Idah situation. While I understand Rangers seemingly have to sell before they can buy, we don’t. If Norwich are asking for £8m then so be it. Having him back for flag day would be the icing on the cake.”

Stephen Johnstone, Ardentinny, emailed: “Celtic are bragging about beating the English big two in Man City and Chelsea on their USA adventure. But Brendan Rodgers will be judged on his performance in the Champions League not in friendlies. My money is they will be stuffed like Christmas turkeys and Rodgers will be gone. One can see David Moyes as the next manager and he will be given a war chest to spend.”

In contrast, Robert McEwan, Mount Vernon, said: “We are a very successful club and that attracts other clubs to our players unfortunately. But that’s the way good teams operate. I am sure Celtic have their eye on top players coming in.”
