UFC London: Sean O'Malley gives honest opinion on Paddy Pimblett's weight cutting

UFC star Sean O’Malley has given his thoughts on the extreme weight cutting of Paddy Pimblett.

Last Saturday night at UFC London, Paddy Pimblett kept his hype train going with an impressive win over Jordan Leavitt. The success takes him up to 3-0 since signing for the promotion and, looking forward, offers ‘The Baddy’ a real chance to become a major star across mixed martial arts.

It’s well known that Pimblett is a controversial figure for many and there are a handful of reasons for that, but one thing that tends to get talked about above all else is the amount of weight he puts on between fights.

The 27-year-old can often be seen ballooning up while he’s out of training camp and even though he’s been answering questions about it for months, it’s still likely to be a hot topic as we look ahead to the rest of the summer and beyond.

Sean O’Malley, who has always seemed to be a big fan of Paddy’s work, recently spoke about the Scouser’s weight cut during an episode of his podcast.

“I like Paddy, I have nothing against him, but going from cutting that much weight in that time, because he was fat as f*** not too long ago. Then he makes weight, looks shredded, looks jacked, but his face?

“For Paddy, if he thinks he’s as good as he thinks he is, like when I was fighting guys who weren’t as good as I thought I was, if that makes sense, like, I’m fighting Petr Yan. I always dialled in for camps but it’s different. Pedro felt different too, it’s top 10. He’s fighting Jordan Leavitt, probably looked at him and thought ‘not that good’. I’m sure for Paddy, once he’s fighting Islam or Charles or Dustin or Chandler, any of those guys, it’s like okay, let’s not get up to 210. Let’s dial it in a little further.”
