Paddy Pimblett next fight: UFC legend explains why he won't end up fighting at Anfield

UFC legend Michael Bisping has explained why Paddy Pimblett probably won’t get a stadium show at Anfield.

Last Saturday night at UFC London, Paddy Pimblett continued to silence his doubters with an emphatic second round submission win over Jordan Leavitt. The O2 Arena, unsurprisingly, was absolutely bouncing for the arrival of ‘The Baddy’ as the 27-year-old proved once again why he’s one of the most electric talents in the sport today.

He’s now 3-0 since signing with the promotion and even though he’s got a long way to go before reaching the top, there’s definitely a special kind of buzz in the air when it comes to figuring out just how far the Scouse sensation can go.

One thing that Paddy continues to call for is a stadium show, and most notably, at Anfield – the home of his beloved Liverpool Football Club.

UFC president Dana White has always been hesitant to put on events at outdoor stadiums and during a recent episode of his podcast, Michael Bisping made it clear that he can understand the reasoning behind it.

“Yeah, listen, no offence to him, of course I love the confidence and I love how he goes around saying massive venues like the O2 Arena are no longer big enough for him – that’s not true.

“If Conor McGregor never got his stadium show, right, which he hasn’t, I don’t think Paddy is going to. Paddy is [off to] a great start and god knows where he’s going to go to, he’s huge, but McGregor is by far the biggest star in the sport. The man is an absolute phenom, love him or hate him, he never got his stadium show. Croke Park, he was calling for that for years, there’s a bunch of stadiums around the UK they could’ve used, they never did it.”
