Tyler Adams on keeping Brenden Aaronson 'humble' after eventful Leeds United debut

Tyler Adams has joked about keeping Brenden Aaronson 'humble' after his stellar start to life in a Leeds United shirt. The 21-year-old looked as though he'd scored the winner against Wolves on the opening day of the Premier League season, only for the goal to go down as an own goal.

Aaronson remains adamant that the ball hit his shin and his fellow American was in agreement. Speaking to the Men In Blazers podcast, Adams said: "I need to keep Brenden humble so it's an own goal for now. I look after him like he's my little brother so I need to keep him in tact.

"Nah, I'm kidding. Brenden is the most humble guy. Right after we scored we walked back to halfway and he said 'I didn't even touch the ball, I didn't touch the ball.'

"I was like 'What are you on about you didn't touch the ball?' I think he just blacked out in the moment because he knew he was going to score.

"I watched the replay after the game and I was like, 'Dude, how do you forget touching the ball?' The way that the ball was going, there's no way that it didn't touch him because it would have had to have ran through.

"The guy pushed it, but he pushed it onto Brenden and into the goal, so for me the trajectory - it's Brenden's goal."
