Brenden Aaronson has been a real coup for Leeds United.

On the back of a summer where Leeds shed arguably their two finest players in Raphinha and Kalvin Phillips, it was absolutely pivotal that the Whites got their transfer business right in order to stop the bleeding.

And the Yorkshire club certainly didn’t shy away from splashing the cash in order to fill the holes that had been left behind, as well as furnishing the Jesse Marsch era with as many options as possible.

Marc Roca, Tyler Adams, Luis Sinisterra and Rasmus Kristensen all came through the door in an exciting few weeks for Leeds, but it was Aaronson who had fans rubbing their hands together the most.

After all, if there was any manager best equipped to spot the talent of an American midfielder at Red Bull Salzburg, then you can bet your bottom dollar that it’s exactly the man in Leeds’ dugout right now.

Playfully nicknamed the ‘Medford Messi’, Aaronson is a dynamic and technically gifted 21-year-old who can play in both attacking and central midfield as well as out wide on either flank.

And so far, his arrival at Elland Road has really paid dividends, helping Leeds to make a stronger start than many – ourselves included – were tipping them to enjoy on the back of Raphinha and Phillips’ exits.

Leeds sit in a respectable 9th place with two wins, two draws and two defeats with Aaronson featuring in every single game from the start.

The 22-cap international was only denied a goalscoring debut when his effort against Wolverhampton Wanderers was deemed to have been a Rayan Aït-Nouri own goal, but he has since gone onto chip in with an assist and strike of his own.
